Founded in 1962 by residents of Mill Basin, Brooklyn, Troop 76 is chartered to St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church. The first troop meeting was held in a large circus tent; this was before the school building was opened. The troop held its first camping trip--to the sand dunes along Jamaica Bay--during the first month of operation. Continuing with this tradition, we still hold troop meetings every week and go camping every month. We now meet in the school auditorium on Friday nights from 7:30 pm untill 10:00 pm and go camping all over the northeast.
